Between 1977 and 1996, Marco ran the backstage bar at the Hammersmith Odeon, now the Eventim Apollo. His customers included visiting performers, their guests, road crew and members of the press. Marco became known for performing magic behind the bar, and the room became known as “Marco's Bar”.

In the early 1990s, the venue became the Labatt's Apollo and began staging more theatre productions. When additional dressing-room space was needed, the backstage bar closed in 1996 and became dressing room 7A.

In 2006, Phil McIntyre Entertainment presented Little Britain at the Hammersmith Apollo. Dressing room 7A was transformed back into Marco's Bar, and Marco was invited to manage it and entertain guests and VIPs before the show.

Marco involved performers and guests in personalised card tricks. Some cards displayed a celebrity photograph on the back and a signature on the front; other signed cards appeared on the ceiling as part of the magic.

After the production, the signed cards were mounted together to create the poster shown below. It was donated to Comic Relief for a Red Nose Day auction.
